Team XDP Meets Special Giveaway Winner

xdp-33.jpg

Every year the crew behind the scenes at XDP works to bring exclusive giveaways to our fans. These prizes range from free truck parts, to free gear and swag giveaways, and even gift cards. However, our latest giveaway was a bit more special for us, this one was for the kids!

We decided to take a KidTrax Dodge 3500 Dually (with a Cummins of course), have it custom wrapped to match our Team XDP Racing trucks and give it away to one lucky child on social media. All their parents had to do was enter. With a ton of entries, we noticed one submission posted by Jay that really stuck out to us. Shortly after his post telling his son’s story, other fans started to rally behind Jay and his son Jackson.

Here’s Jay’s original entry:

“My 2 year old son Jackson loves trucks so much that even after his recent second open heart surgery he couldn’t wait to sit up and play with his trucks. Now while he is still currently in the hospital, every morning as soon as he wakes up he wants me to take him out and push him around the halls all day in the truck the hospital has! He would be ecstatic over that truck!”

The winner was obvious, Jay and his son Jackson were chosen. In most cases, we simply collect the winner’s information, and send the prize on it’s way. However, after hearing Jackson’s story, we wanted to do something extra special for him.

After some brainstorming with XDP’s Dave Radzierez (Monster Truck Driver) and Michelle Simpson (Crew Chief), we came up with a plan to have Jackson and his entire family come up for lunch. They could get an up close look at the Monster Truck, the shop, and most importantly Jackson would be getting a truck of his own, the XDP wrapped KidTrax Ram 3500 Dually.

About a week later, Jackson and the whole family came out for a special day that only a few have ever experienced. Greeted by Dave and Michelle, Jackson got a chance to sit in the drivers seat of XDP’s “Xtreme Diesel”  Monster Truck, enjoyed a ride around the property in the UTV, and of course, Jackson got to go home with his XDP wrapped KidTrax. All in all, it was a great time, and we are so glad to have met an incredibly brave young man, and his wonderful family.

XDP’s “Xtreme Diesel” Gets Wild In Tampa!

Team XDP Racing is back on the road again after a great weekend in Tampa, Florida. Our largest event to date, this Monster Jam show pulled in a massive crowd that quickly filled Raymond James Stadium, (home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

Pulling out of Detroit last week, the Crew ran into a few problems with the trailer, leaving them on the side of the road. In other words, it was a mess! A failed brake component 16426097_1561473333880007_2006271255225239683_ncaused the brakes to overheat, melting the oil seal out of the hub, which caused a leak and the wheel bearing to seize, ultimately ENDING IN  A FIRE!

After the fire department came and put out the fire, the crew knew they only had one option, fix it and keep on truckin’! The crew got the trailer road-worthy again, and headed to Tampa for what ended up being the biggest show of the season so far.

Fast forward to Friday during the qualifying rounds and practice, XDP’s Dave Radzierez put down a 21.346 second qualifying run, earning us a spot in the racing portion of the main event on Saturday night. Twenty-one seconds to get those enormous tires and truck around that entire stadium race course!? That’s fast!

“The truck sounds great, runs great and everything is working well. I’m really enjoying my seat time in this new truck on the Monster Jam Tour.” – Dave Radzierez

That Saturday afternoon the Monster Jam Pit Party kicked off mid-afternoon. Always one of our favorite parts of the event, Team XDP gets to hang out with our fans, sign autographs and show off the truck up-close. Onto the main event! The stadium was packed, and up first was racing. XDP’s “Xtreme Diesel” won the first round. In the second round,  Dragon edged us out and took the win, knocking us out of racing.

The freestyle competition is always a fan favorite, and Dave knows it. Coming out hot, Dave had a great run blasting off some huge air, and getting plenty of noise out of the crowd. About halfway through, as Dave puts it he got a little “greedy” on the wheelies and stood the truck up just a tad too far to bringing it down on its side. The crowd went wild so even with an early finish Dave was happy to put on a show.

“That was the first rollover on the new “Xtreme Diesel” truck, but don’t worry there’s most likely many more on the way. Although I don’t try to go out there and roll it on purpose, you never know where that fine line is if you don’t cross it! – Dave Radzierez

That wraps it up for Tampa, Team XDP will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota this coming Saturday (2/11).

XDP’s “Xtreme Diesel” Wins Wheelies In Detroit

detroit-5

“It’s the fans, the emails, the Facebook, it’s all that stuff that keeps me going, keeps me working hard” said Dave Radzierez, during his intro interview on Saturday night while overlooking Ford Field at the first scheduled Monster Jam event in Detroit. One of the many stops this winter on the busy Monster Jam Stadium Tour.

On Saturday afternoon at Ford Field, the ground floor of the stadium quickly filled after the kick-off of the “Pit Party” where the competing trucks were put on display, and the fans got to come in and see them up-close while personally interacting with the drivers and crew.

Once show time rolled around, the stadium was filled and Dave went to work doing what he does best! Dave had a blast performing for the crowd and even with a minor power steering issue that kept us out of freestyle, Dave was able to take the win in the Wheelie Competition!

Overall, Team XDP had a great weekend in Detroit! Team XDP is all packed up and headed south to Florida. Look for us this coming weekend in Tampa!

Team XDP Racing sets world record!

Image

XDPDragTruck_NewRecord

This past weekend XDP and the XDP Racing Team headed to Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois for the NHRDA Midwest Truckin’ Nationals. This was a one day event combining sled pulls, dyno, and drag racing.

This was a “hometown” event of sorts for Team XDP drag truck driver Anthony Reams. Anthony grew up in Missouri and lives about an hour west of St. Louis. With a bunch of his family and friends in attendance to watch the race, he knew it was a big day and needed to perform well. Anthony has been in the chase for the Super Street World record all season. With multiple passes surpassing the world record already this season, the next goal was to back the time up within 1% to secure the record.

After a Super Street win in Denver, but being unable to set the record, it was time to secure the record in front of the home crowd. His first qualifying pass of the day was cut short due to some infamous Dodge “death wobble” occurring. The truck was towed back to the pits and inspected to make sure nothing was broken. After inspection and confirming everything was a go, he headed out for his 2nd qualifying run of the day. In his 2nd pass he ran 9.17 @153mph, setting him up as the #1 qualifier and another chance to secure the Super Street record. Because he was the # 1 qualifier, he was able to have 2 “bye” rounds and head straight to the finals. In the finals Anthony met Chris Buhidar and his Cummins powered Ford for the Super Street title.  Unfortunately for Anthony and Team XDP, Chris was able to execute an absolute perfect run and defeat Anthony in the final round. Chris ran 9.02 @ 152.5 mph and Anthony ran 9.15 @ 151.9. Chris was able to just get Anthony off the line which was the difference in the race. The good news is, Anthony was able to back up his first run within 1% and set a new Super Street ET world record!

Congratulations to Team XDP Racing and Anthony Reams on their new Super Street world record of 9.15et.  Team XDP Racing thanks all those who follow and support the team, especially our sponsors BD Diesel Performance, MBRP, AirDog, EDGE, ARP, AFE Power, and Auto Meter.

Team XDP wins NHRDA BD Diesels on the Mountain at Bandimere!!!

NHRDADieselsontheMountain

Team XDP’s work in the off-season yielded big results three weeks ago in Tulsa.  Anthony Ream’s first pass in Tulsa saw him eclipse the current Super Street ET and MPH record with a 9.14 second pass at 153.89 MPH.  Only hurtle was backing it up to make things official, and with track officials making clear a parachute was needed on the truck, along with some other challenges in later rounds, the team didn’t make the record official.  They made it to finals, however, coming up just short of the win in Tulsa.

But Team XDP knew they were closing in on a possible win and potential new World Record heading into the next NHRDA race at Bandimere Speedway.  Before heading to Colorado the team equipped the XDP drag truck with the required parachute to slow the 1995 Dodge down after their passes, loaded up, and headed west to Denver with hopes of a victory in the mountains.

Before the race in Denver we asked Team XDP driver Anthony Reams if he was surprised by the Tulsa pass and the fast progress after the big off season changes.

“Well we knew the truck had the power in it. But with so many changes you just don’t know how long it may take to dial it in to prove that we had it. So to come out first pass and do what we did was very exciting for all of us.”

Anthony, Tulsa Raceway is situated at 619 feet, but Bandimere sits at an elevation of 5,800 feet.  The Denver track is notoriously challenging on engine setups for racers given its elevation.  With the truck’s new engine setup still being very new to you, what setup challenges did you and Team XDP face going into Bandimere?

“The altitude was the big question leading up to things. Ben Shadday and I went back and forth numerous times trying to put our heads together on a set up. We came to the conclusion to change nothing at all. We felt we had a set up that was proven to be fast and we knew we had more in it. So we decided to leave everything alone. Which was a good decision. We didn’t find the altitude to give us any spooling issues at all at the line. We didn’t add any nitrous to assist or anything. Stuck with a plan that had worked a couple weeks before and continued our focus on the suspension set up.”

Team XDP seemed to relish the challenge of the mountains.  Their first pass Saturday was a tire spinning mess off the line, the truck’s front tires fighting to find traction as the Dodge violently darted left and right leaving the line.  But the pass was good enough to move them onto the next round where Anthony found enough traction to flash their record beating speed again with a pass of 9.22 and 153 MPH.  After that pass the team knew the mile high thin air might not present much of a challenge to them, and while a record would be nice, the team had come to Denver focused on securing an NHRDA win along with the $5,000 check that would go to the winner.

Anthony walk us through how the team managed the race Saturday and ultimately made it into the finals.

“It wasn’t easy.  We worked like crazy from start to finish. We had a lot of little nagging issues throughout the day. We stayed focus in between qualifiers and rounds to get what we needed done to get to the lanes for our next call. Then when it came time to race. We stuck to keeping things simple and going A to B each time. We know we have power, we know we can go fast. But the key is to be able to do it consistently. And many times that calls for staying calm and not trying to set the world on fire. We had a national record in our hands and we wanted it BAD! But we also had a big goal to come to Denver and leave Kings of the Mountain. And that’s what we did. We settled in and just ran our race. No big boost launches, no eye popping et or mph numbers. Just nice and smooth but fast enough to win the race.”

The finals saw Anthony line up against Phillip Franklin and while both trucks again struggled with traction off the line, Anthony was able to stay in the throttle and power the Team XDP drag truck to victory with a pass of 9.39 at 149.98 MPH.  Congratulations to Anthony Reams and the XDP Race Team on the victory, securing the big check in Denver, and keeping race fans on the edge of their seat as they continue to flirt with setting a new super street World Record.

The teams win elevates them in points as they prepare for what could be called a home coming for Anthony in Madison IL near St. Louis.  Be sure to follow all the news about Team XDP and our progress this season at www.XDP.com and we invite everyone to the next round of NHRDA to see Anthony and The XDP Race Team in action July 9th for the NHRDA Midwest Truckin Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL.
