XDP and the NHRDA return to the Deep South!

Round 3 of the NHRDA season had XDP headed to the deep south last weekend for the 1st Annual South East Truckin Nationals in Adel Georgia.  After struggling with rain on raceday in Gainesville Florida the past two years, this year’s move to South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) in Adel proved a better choice for diesel race fans.  Saturday morning began with great weather in Adel, with only a few rain drops falling as things were being setup.  That worried those of us who had been rained out in prior years in Gainesville, but things quickly cleared up and the weather was perfect the rest of the day and night.

In addition to better weather, Adel also featured sled pulls following the drag racing, something Gainesville didn’t offer.  The sled pulling was very popular with fans and the crowd grew as action moved from the drag strip to the infield of the SGMP ½ mile oval where the sled pulling track was built.  Although attendance was lower for Adel than at this seasons Bakersfield and Texas events, Adel seemed to draw more fans than we’ve seen in Gainesville the prior three years.

It would be nice to see this event gain momentum and become a regular event on the NHRDA schedule.  In addition, I can’t say I’ve encountered a nicer group of race fans as we saw on Saturday….true southern hospitality on display and very much appreciated.

Below are results from Adel and a link to video of all the racing action from Saturday at SGMP.

Also, we are happy that Wade Moody is ok and was able to walk away from his accident during the race against Ryan Milliken in the DirtyMax.  Finally, a big thank you to Rick from MBRP, Chris from BD Power, and our many other vendors and customers for supporting XDP at this event.  XDP will be exhibiting at Gateway Raceway in St. Louis on May 17th for Round 4 of the NHRDA season so come see us.  Those further east who are unable to make the St. Louis event can also visit with XDP staff and see the XDP Diesel Powered Monster Truck Team compete at the Lima Ohio 4Wheel Jamboree taking place May 16-18 at the fairgrounds in Lima.  We hope to see you at one of these exciting events later in the month!

XDP and Diesels on the Mountain

XDP made the trip to the Denver area this past weekend for the annual Diesels on the Mountain weekend so we could visit with our good friends at ATS and to attend Truck Fest at Bandimere Speedway.

We’ve been able to visit ATS and Bandimere Speedway at least twice a year in recent years as a result of XDP’s sponsorship and support of the Diesel Power Challenge in the Spring which has been held in Denver the past several years, but we also look forward to August and the Diesels on the Mountain weekend which ATS does a great job putting together.

Staff from both our headquarters in New Jersey as well as XDP Performance Specialists Cody (x212) and Joe(x211) from our Las Vegas facility made the trip to Denver for the weekend.  Also joining us in support of the weekend’s events were XDP vendors Airaid, DDP Dynomite Diesel, Industrial Injection, MBRP, H&S, and of course our host for the weekend ATS Diesel Performance.

Things kicked off Friday night with a huge crowd at the Adams County Fairground for the sled pulls.  The crowd at this event has grown each year we’ve attended and this year the stands were absolutely packed and after going through thousands of armbands at the gates they had to stamp attendee’s hands for admission the crowd was that large….sled pulling is alive and well in Colorado!

Saturday morning we headed to ATS Diesel Performance headquarters for their annual dyno day where XDP setup a display and visited with many of our customers and friends from the Denver area.  ATS always makes sure everyone has a good time with two dyno’s operating, plenty of good food, and lots to see between the exhibits setup from sponsors like XDP and tours of the ATS facility.

Of note again on the dyno was Custom Auto’s Duramax powered OVERKILL piloted by Dimitri Millard.  This rig has been putting on the miles showing off the trucks continued development.  In the last 8 weeks we’ve seen this truck impress crowds in Western Canada, then all the way to the Southeast US last weekend running at Rockingham, and then days later laying down the power on both ATS dyno’s.  Nice to see the commitment from this team and they are not alone, we appreciate all those helping push our sport and hobby forward.

On Sunday everyone headed to Bandimere Speedway for Truck Fest.  This event featured a packed midway including an XDP exhibit and racing in several diesel classes…including big rigs.  It capped a great weekend for XDP and we look forward to returning next year for another great weekend with our friends at ATS.  A big thank you goes out to ATS founder Clint Cannon who always makes us feel at home and his entire staff for their hard work creating a great diesel focused event.

XDP Crosses the Border!

XDP was happy to make another trip across the border into Canada this past weekend to visit with our good friends at BD Diesel and to further support our sponsorship in the NHRDA at Mission Raceway in beautiful British Columbia Canada.

Great weather all weekend allowed for 3 days of product training, dyno testing, racing, and socializing with friends new and old.

Things began Friday when I headed over early to BD’s Canadian headquarters for a day of comprehensive product training covering each category of BD product.

Each session began in their boardroom with a video overview of the product category led by the person most knowledgeable in that particular area, then we would head down into the product manufacturing area for a hands on look at how BD actually produces the product and the technology involved.

BD is increasingly pairing new 21st Century manufacturing methods with their 40+ years of experience and it shows as they incorporate modern lean manufacturing practices along with accelerated product development cycles.  They are helping lead the industry in these areas and it’s a great thing for diesel truck owners.  For our customers interested in finding out more about BD products our XDP Performance Specialists are ready to answer your questions.  XDP also stocks a tremendous inventory of BD product in both our NJ and NV warehouses, from their smallest parts all the way up to complete transmissions.

On Saturday XDP setup at BD’s 18th annual Spring Dyno Tune Day.  Perfect weather, the Lions club BBQ, and 65 trucks hitting the rollers led to the largest crowd in the events history.  The day’s top three below included the highest HP and TQ ever recorded on BD’s dyno set by Dimitri Mallard.

1st        Dimitri Mallard           Duramax         1,246.7 HP / 2,910 TQ

2nd        Nollan                         Duramax         1,052.0 HP / 2,456 TQ

3rd        Torrey Werenka          Dodge 5.9       988.6 HP / 2,308 TQ

On Sunday, the NHRDA’s 4th race of the season went down at Mission Raceway and it brought out many of western Canada’s fastest diesel powered trucks as well as a few notables from the USA…such as the MBRP sponsored DirtyMax, Jarid Vollmer in the Bully Dog Pro Street truck, and the prior days dyno winner Dimitri Mallard from Custom Auto.  BD also brought out 3 trucks as they continue to use racing as yet another test bed for future product development and enhancement.  The day’s notables are below.

Pro Stock: Gage Makinen, Billings MT, ’99 Chevy, 10.400 sec., 128.40 mph defeated Aaron Schaff, Rimbey AB, ’02 Dodge, 10.301 sec., 135.44 mph

Pro Street: Jarid Vollmer, Chubbuck ID, ’07 Dodge, 9.952 sec., 142.09 mph defeated Donovan Harris, Red Deer AB, 10.834 sec, 107.25 mph

XDP was well represented in Canada this weekend and thanks to all our friends and business contacts that traveled to the weekend’s events to visit and hang out with us.  Finally and most importantly, big thanks to BD Diesel and its staff who always make us feel welcome and who put on a tremendously educational and entertaining weekend.  We look forward to returning for many years to come.

Vegas baby….VEGAS!!!!!

Landing a new job is good. Landing a new job doing something you love is better. Landing a new job doing something you love and that you have years of experience and knowledge in is the BEST! That best case scenario was the case for Cody and Jose, our two new performance specialists who we welcomed to our sales team in January. Only this time at our new showroom and sales center at XDP’s growing Las Vegas facility.

Joe (extension 211) is a hardcore Duramax guy and Cody (extension 212) a dedicated Cummins 5.9 guy. Between them they bring over 12 years of experience in diesel technology, each having heavily modified trucks of their own. Their addition to the XDP sales team continues the growth in XDP’s Las Vegas facility along with a growing XDP west coast presence.

If you’re in the Vegas area, stop by and say hello or call in and contact them at their extension.
